What is Hypnotherapy


What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis can be defined as a state of complete and natural relaxation within the physical body combined with heightened awareness of the inner self. This is similar to the everyday trance like feeling you get when daydreaming. As you enter the hypnotic state you become less aware of your surroundings and you become more acutely aware of your inner feelings. Hypnosis will be different for each person, every experience will be unique. This will depend on several factors e.g. motivation for seeking hypnosis, previous experience and expectations.

Hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep although it does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the patient experiences an enhanced state of awareness, focusing entirely on the hypnotherapists voice. This enables the conscious mind to be suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed. During this state the hypnotherapist is able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to the patient, the seeds of which become firmly planted.

What can I Expect during a Hypnotherapy Session?

During Hypnotherapy the client is guided, using all their senses to experience a sense of deep relaxation with the awareness of the outside world narrowed down, and their subconscious mind is then focused on specific and appropriate suggestions made by the hypnotherapist.

It is these very specific suggestions that help people make positive changes within themselves.

In a hypnotherapy session the client is always in control. You will never be out of control or do anything you disagree with or which is against your normal moral or ethical code. Hypnotherapy is all about empowerment .

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis in bringing about the desired change by using mutually agreed positive suggestions.
